The Ukiah Drag announce tour with Merchandise
The Ukiah Drag are Floridians in New England exile: haunted by grave, aberrant definitions of rock n’ roll, post punk and what it ultimately means for the Superego to be blitzed by the Id. Personnel of The Drag stem from the Tampa scene – recording and sharing bands with members of Merchandise like Cult Ritual and have previously ran with the Ascetic House pack on which they released their debut tape and toured with Destruction Unit. Coming this June you can catch ’em live on a North American tour with Merchandise.
The Ukiah Drag just released their latest 7″, Dirt Trip on Wharf Cat Records. It’s the band’s first studio output recorded by Ben Greenberg of The Men and offers two menacing tracks.
The A-side wields a heavy creep-beat that cleans your dusty clock and takes you for a bourbon afterwards; its slide guitar and echoplex’d vocals trail bloodthirsty sultans into synesthetic merriment. The B-side being the Drag’s rendition of the Stones/Coasters classic “Poison Ivy” exists as a languid waltz for psychics.
