The Japanese House AKA: Amber Bain has released ITEIAD Sessions, a collection of live versions from her album In the End It Always Does, out now via Dirty Hit. The Japanese House is currently on her a North American Tour. The artist just-announced 2024 UK tour will see her play her biggest headline show to date at London’s Roundhouse as well as nights in Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester.

The album includes a never before heard alternate version of fan favorite and standout track “Boyhood,” as well as previously shared live versions of singles “Sad to Breathe”, “Touching Yourself”, “Sunshine Baby” and “One for sorrow, two for Joni Jones”. In addition to the album tracks, ITEIAD Sessions also includes a heartfelt stripped-down re-imagining of ABBA’s “Super Trouper”.

Released over the summer, the songs on In The End It Always Does highlight heartbreak and love lost, emotional reflections on childhood trauma and identity, and the album finds The Japanese House embracing her pop-side with help from Matty Healy and George Daniel (The 1975), Katie Gavin (MUNA), Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and Charli XCX among others. The album was produced and engineered by Chloe Kraemer (Rex Orange County, Lava La Rue, Glass Animals), an experience Bain describes as “life changing” due to the unspoken, shared understanding between marginalized genders in a creative space.
