The Everymen Premiere “Spain” Video
Ernest Jenning Record Co. have revealed The Everymen‘s video for “Spain” from the band’s upcoming sophomore album Givin’ Up On Free Jazz, out May 20th. The video, which stars comedian Zach Garner as “professional rail-slider” Darby Ferrari, premiered today, who noted that it “tracks [Darby’s] rise in the sport (and a lot of Union Square training sessions).” It also features The Everymen’s very own Scott Zillitto as the galactic sax-man seen above. The band will take to the road in support of the record this summer, starting with a record release party at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, NY on May 19 and ending back in New York City at Piano’s on July 25 after hitting much of the rest of the country.
Where New Jersey Hardcore was the work of one man flanked by occasional co-conspirators, Givin’ Up On Free Jazz is the fully-formed execution of a band just hitting its stride. From modern takes on girl-group send-ups to Springsteen-esque walls of sound, from full-throttle odes to eternal love to hushed piano bar intimacy, it’s an album as varied as it is focused, all while sounding singularly Everymen. With engineering from Tom Unish, mixing by John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth), mastering by Paul Gold (LCD Soundsystem, Animal Collective) and a guest appearance from The New Pornographers’ A.C. Newman, The Everymen clearly enlisted the right folks to capture their sound on Free Jazz.
Standing as many as nine members strong, The Everymen are reminiscent of the E Street band in stature, Rocket From the Crypt in searing energy, Meat Loaf in production and The Replacements in boozy, backroom party vibes.

1. Bl’ast Off!
