The Bygones Share Video For New Single “Glad”
The Bygonesa—the indie folk duo of Joshua Lee Turner and Allison Young—announce their highly anticipated debut album to be released April 4th on Tonetree, and share a new single from the record.
Songwriter Allison Young shares, “It took a lot of work and grief to get to a place where I could write this song. I wanted to look back on a recent relationship from a place not only of understanding, but of gratitude—not dwelling on the fact that it’s over but rather on the fact that we got to have the time together at all. Finding love, whether it’s for a lifetime or a season, will always be a really beautiful thing, and everyone deserves to be in love.”
“Glad” arrives in the form of an official music video; director Kelly Oden filmed every take of the recording process, capturing the creation of the song exactly as it’s heard today. It’s a compelling peek into The Bygones’ exceptional musical finesse and palpable performance chemistry. Of the recording, Allison notes, “I thought the tempo changes in my demo would go away in the studio version, but we performed the takes all live with no click, and the band nailed the time changes. This made space for a cathartic relaxation into the message of the chorus.”
