Taleen Kali has shared her new single “Lost & Bound”. The track is from Taleen’s EP Soul Songs out June 22nd via Lollipop Records. The EP was produced by Kristin Kontrol.

“‘Lost & Bound’ is about finding yourself again after being lost. I wanted to write a song that was really dark but also danceable, so I wrote a dirge dedicated to a ‘lost self,’ and I added a disco beat to add this sense of movement, of celebration, of making it to the other side.”

Last month she released the EP’s lead single “Half Lie” which is also streaming to share at Soundcloud. Taleen Kali told Stereogum, “Half Lie” is about the half truths we hear from others, and the lies we tell ourselves…I wrote it for anybody who’s “caught in time” in that moment of awareness, transition, or indecision…when we realize we need to break free or change in order to grow.”

Taleen Kali has also announced several Los Angeles area shows including shows at LA Zine Fest and a record release show at Resident on June 26. All upcoming shows are listed below.

Soul Songs was recorded at the Sunset Sound studios in Hollywood where Taleen Kali teamed up with producer Kristin Kontrol (ex-Dum Dum Girls) and longtime musical mentor Brad Laner (Medicine) who mixed the record. Taleen also brought on her longtime bassist Miles Marsico (TÜLIPS, New Technology) and drummer Rhys Hastings (Gothic Tropic) for the project.

Taleen Kali’s record features an array of synths, guitar pedals from Death By Audio, and sound healing instruments such as Meinl angel tuning forks and singing bowls (which she started exploring in her Kali Punk Yoga classes in L.A.).
