Sylvan Esso will release their new LP Ow ∞, via their own record label Psychic Hotline on September 11th. The LP is described “as a trust fall into our dystopian present, past and future: arms wide open, embracing and absorbing the pain of cities under water or on fire, and piecing oneself back together as a scotch-taped collage of memories, ephemera, burned CDs and backseat makeouts”. Along with the news, Sylvan Esso have shared “Concrete Glen,” the track includes a sample of Sigur Rós‘ “Svefn-g-englar,” and a video directed by Aaron Anderson & Eric Timothy Carlson. Last month the band teased the LP with “Hot Slob”.

Ow ∞ was produced by Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, it is the longest the band has ever spent writing a record. Created, reimagined and revisited nearly every day since 2022, in their studio Betty’s in Chapel Hill, NC, Ow ∞ was born from a period of experimentation, improvisation and collaboration with the largest community of musicians Sylvan Esso have ever worked with on an LP. Featuring six drummers, as well as live guitar, bass, keys, vibraphone, woodwinds, Innato, organ, piano and electronics, Meath and Sanborn are joined by Daniel Aged (Frank Ocean, Dijon), BJ Burton (Bon Iver, Charli xcx), Matt Douglas (the Mountain Goats), Glenn Kotche (Wilco), Jake Luppen (Hippo Campus, Samia), TJ Maiani (Weyes Blood, Neneh Cherry), James Mapley-Brittle (GRRL), Buddy Ross (Frank Ocean, Bon Iver), Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak, Flock of Dimes) and Joe Westerlund (Megafaun).

In addition to their upcoming full-band tour for 2026-2027, and the return of Good Moon festival in October, Sylvan Esso will be detailing a series of September 3rd listening events around the globe for Ow ∞.
