Recently joining hands with Merge Records, Spider Bags are set to release their forthcoming album, Frozen Letter, via the label on August 5. Originally formed in 2005 as a long-distance project between Dan McGee and Gregg Levy, the current lineup consists of McGee along with Steve Oliva (bass) and Rock Forbes (drums). Since then, the band have released three albums and are set to release Frozen Letter which according to Forbes – who has been with the band since 2008 – was made initially just “to have fun and keep moving forward,” This approach, McGee’s intent to make a “weird, trippy record,” and the help of engineer/producer Wesley Wolfe resulted in the finished product that will be released in the form of this album.

In addition to the upcoming release, Spider Bags are also set to perform in Durham, North Carolina on June 18 as part of the Merge 25 – Music In The Gardens Series.
