Soft Swells reveal Tour; Share EXROYALE Remix
Soft Swells have announced that they will be hitting the road this September and October for a U.S. Tour in support of their forthcoming sophomore album Floodlights, out September 30 via Modern Outsider Records. The tour kicks off at Cheer Up Charlie’s in Austin, TX on September 26, and will take them to major stops along the way in New York, Nashville, and Chicago before ending at Lofi in Seattle, WA onOctober 16. The band has also booked a September residency at The Echo in Los Angeles playing every Monday from September 8 to September 22. The full list of Soft Swells tour dates can be found below.
Today, Soft Swells released a new remix for their first single, “Floodlights”. The remix, titled “Floodlights (EXROYALE remix)” by NW-based NW-based cosmic electro-pop ensemble, EXROYALE, slows this pop gem down into a thumping, sultry, digitized reimagining.
Tim Williams started Soft Swells in an effort to reach new heights, and following the release of their debut full-length Soft Swells in 2012 and their follow-up EP Lifeboats in 2013, their musical sound has gotten bigger. Where once there was just Tim with the help of producer/keyboardist Dave Lynch and a lot of studio magic, there is now a fully formed band. Floodlights will be available on CD, LP and digital download and is available for pre-order now on iTunes with first single “Floodlights” available as an instant grat with pre-order.
In an experiment to capture the fun and excitement of their live shows on record, Tim brought a motley group of musicians together in the studio to lay down all the tracks. Most of the record was tracked by producer Dave Lynch (the other Dave Lynch) at EletricZoo in Eastbourne UK, with Soft Swells’ touring bass player and multi-instrumentalist Christopher Pappas at Tim’s side, and a guest appearance by resident UK drummer Phil Wilkinson (Jake Bugg, Brian Eno). As if that wasn’t enough, Misty Boyce (Sara Bareilles), Jonathan Visger (Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr) and Soft Swells’ touring guitarist Kyle Frederickson all contributed their talents via satellite.
