“Sherman Oaks” by Exes
Venice Beach-based duo EXES recently released their debut EP The Art of Saying Goodbye. A collaborative project comprised of vocalist Allie McDonald and producer Mike Derenzo.
In anticipation of release, EXES recently shared “Sherman Oaks”.
Allie McDonald on the track:
“I wrote Sherman Oaks out of desperation and heartache, months ago, in the middle of the night. It was a song I needed to write in order to heal. I fell hard and fast for someone new – and when I tried to let go, I couldn’t. As artists, we aren’t afraid to put our lives – our hearts on display. Sherman Oaks is very real to us.”
The Art of Saying Goodbye EP sees EXES blend intimacy with intricacy to create a detail-oriented sort of pop. The six track collection is packed with hypnotic beats and wistful lyrics. Equal parts affectionate and vulnerable in production and melody, the EP is now available on all streaming services.
