Romy has released “The Sea.” The artist’s new single is off her debut solo album Mid Air, available September 8th via Young, with Production from Fred again.. and Stuart Price. it’s another example of what Romy describes as “emotional music to dance to”, a sun-kissed love song that is set to soundtrack long summer nights for years to come. “The Sea” follows previous single “Enjoy Your Life,” which features bandmate Jamie xx.

“The Sea” is accompanied by a new video courtesy of director Mollie Mills. The video – supported by global fashion platform FARFETCH – stars Romy alongside her wife and longtime visual collaborator Vic Lentaigne Meanwhile, excitement continues to build for Romy’s long awaited debut solo album. The UK singer, songwriter and DJ, who previously released three albums with her band The xx.

Mid Air is an album about celebration, sanctuary and salvation on the dance floor. It’s an album that deals with love, grief, relationships, identity and sexuality and is a love letter to the queer clubs where Romy found community and connection. It’s a coming-out album in a way, although she came out in her personal life a long time ago, but it’s also a coming-through album – through grief and heartache, towards euphoria.
