“Pretty Lil Mystery” by Carina

London teenage pop artist carina releases her brand new single “Pretty Lil Mystery” following the announcement of her sophomore EP After The Stars – out August 18 via independent imprint Don’t Sleep.

The Oxford-born, London-based singer songwriter is growing from strength to strength through each release, with the creative starlet following a variety of different themes within her music. A lot of the songs she creates are based around being used by people she’s previously dated, with “Pretty Lil Mystery” following suit. For a while carina battled with her mental health and dissociation, through this, music became the perfect outlet to ensure that she could remain grounded and navigate her feelings through the means of creation. carina’s music has since become an extension of her, essentially narrating her life: she initially began writing through the tragic death of her best friend, and as a prolific songwriter, she has the capability to write so many songs that it has now just become second nature to her.

Talking on her latest release, the artist explains: “It’s about feeling emotionally unavailable and not being open to trusting other people. I suggest you listen to it on your way home from a night out. ‘Atmospheric, electronic mood. ‘Effy Stone’ from ‘Skins’ was my inspiration. If she had a song, it would be this.”

Following the announcement of her 8-track EP After The Stars, carina delivers yet another body of work that is far beyond her years. Carina pours her soul into everything she puts out into the world, this is her storybook as she puts all of her emotions into this coming of age piece of work and leaves nothing unsaid. ‘It’s definitely an acknowledgement to uncomfortable feelings, emotions that everyone feels but nobody talks about” she states. “If Spaceout! (my last project) was the house party, After The Stars is when everyone has gone home and you’re feeling shit. In order to move forward from bad situations you have to acknowledge the pain and that’s what the project did for me.”
