Porridge Radio shares new single “God Of Everything Else”
Porridge Radio shares their new single “God Of Everything Else” the track is off their forthcoming album, Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me, available October 18th via Secretly Canadian. Band leader Dana Margolin sings of spending “a year wishing I was somebody else.” Like previous singles, the video for “God Of Everything Else” is shot live from their recent performance at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
On “God Of Everything Else,” Margolin elaborates: “After a horrible relationship I felt like a piece of shit on someone’s shoe, like I was so unimportant and completely drained of any power I once had. Lying to myself in order to get that power back. You did this to me, but I’m the god of everything else. Fuck you. A song about dissociating constantly and being in pain constantly, wandering the streets for hours with nowhere to be, never stopping to face the void, always running from it, never healing, trying to find myself in other people, not having a clue where to put my next step forward. Also a song about femininity, wondering how to be a woman, watching someone else do it so effortlessly, wondering if I could be like her would it be easier. Of course not.”
Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me was Produced by Dom Monks, longtime engineer for Big Thief and Laura Marling, Clouds was recorded in Frome at the beginning of 2024 in an environment where Margolin could fully express herself. The band – Margolin (guitar, vocals), Georgie Stott (keyboards, backing vocals), Sam Yardley (drums, keyboards), and Dan Hutchins (bass) – worked more closely than ever on sculpting the album, and for once, they were all able to record in the same room as the producer. “We’ve always been known as a band who do something very particular and very emotionally intense live, and Dom (Monks) knew how to get that feeling across.”
