After the recent announcement of their new album Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me, available October 18th via Secretly Canadian, Porridge Radio share new single “A Hole In The Ground.” The track centers around the collapse of a relationship, as band leader Dana Margolin sings “Take off all of my clothes and run to your house / where in place of a door is a hole in the ground / And I fill it with salt, the hard bits of my heart / they fall into the hole and they tear it apart.” “This is a song about not knowing, being trapped in a haunted fairytale or a horrible nightmare and running and running and predicting horrible futures that come true and self-fulfill,” comments Margolin. “It’s a gentle lullaby but it’s also a folktale with a tragic ending. This is a song about knowing what you don’t know yet. Seeing the future by guessing, being right.”

Like “Sick of the Blues,” the video for “A Hole In The Ground” was shot live at their recent, performance at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Conceptually led by Dana with her sister, director Ella Margolin, and set designer Ellie Wintour, the set was inspired by the work of sculptors Alexander Calder and Constantin Brâncuși, complete with a graveled stage, willowy pillars hanging from the ceilings, and mime artists moving around the stage with various props.

Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me was Produced by Dom Monks (Big Thief and Laura Marling) and recorded in Frome in 2024, in an environment where Margolin could fully express herself. The band – Margolin (guitar, vocals), Georgie Stott (keyboards, backing vocals), Sam Yardley (drums, keyboards), and Dan Hutchins (bass) – worked more closely than ever on sculpting the album, and for once, they were all able to record in the same room as the producer. “We’ve always been known as a band who do something very particular and very emotionally intense live, and Dom (Monks) knew how to get that feeling across.”
