Piers (FKA Gondola) Premiere “The Rook”
Piers are pleased to premiere “The Rook” today — the first track to be released from the Brooklyn based three-piece’s forthcoming self-titled debut LP, and the first release since the band’s 2013 breakthrough debut EP We Are The Map.
We Are The Map was praised by high profile blogs around the world; The Line of Best Fit (UK) described it as “beautiful and comforting,” while No Fear of Pop (DE) commended the EP for its “scenic imagery and keen analogies.” Despite the band’s growing presence online, Piers, formerly known as Gondola, were forced to change their name after receiving a steady stream of threats from a Philadelphia-based band of the same name.
Directed by lead vocalist and guitarist Ricci Swift, a transplant from Portland, Piers fits somewhere between early Built to Spill and Belle and Sebastian, or perhaps Yo La Tengo and The Walkmen.
Piers’ self-titled debut full length will be self-released on September 16th.
