NICK CAVE TO CELEBRATE 20,000 DAYS ON EARTH
Following advance screenings this summer of 20,000 Days on Earth— the new film on Nick Cave—the iconic artist returns Stateside for a one night-only encore screening, performance, and conversation event, joined by the film’s directors and special guests.
Drafthouse Films, the film distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, in association with Film Forum, have announced a special screening of 20,000 Days On Earth—the lyrical and inventive documentary showcasing the rock icon—followed by a rare solo piano performance by Cave to coincide with the opening weekend release of the film. In addition, the rock legend will be joined on stage by 20,000 Days On Earth directors, Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth for a conversation with the audience. The exclusive off-site screening will take place at the Town Hall in Manhattan’s midtown on Saturday, September 20th.
For fans across the country–and across the globe–Drafthouse Films is also partnering with Noisey, the music division of Vice Media for an exclusive live stream of the Q&A and solo performance. Fans can also submit questions in advance via Twitter to @drafthousefilms with #20000Days, from which, Cave and the directors will answer a selection during the post-screening discussion on the night of the event.
As a nod of appreciation to his fans, pre-sale tickets to this exclusive screening event will first be made available to those on Nick Cave’s mailing list and website, nickcave.com/live starting at 10am EST this Thursday, September 4th–24 hours prior to the general public at 10am EST, Friday, September 5th. All tickets to the Saturday event will only be available through Ticketmaster and in person at the Town Hall box office at 123 West 43rd Street.
In addition to the unique event, the directors of 20,000 Days on Earth will also be on hand at Film Forum for a series of Q&A screenings during opening weekend. The film opens for a 2-week exclusive theatrical engagement at Film Forum on Wednesday, September 17th. Tickets for this engagement are available now on www.filmforum.org and at the Film Forum box office.
“Nick Cave live in concert is a transcendent experience on its own,” says Drafthouse Films founder Tim League. “Pairing this unique, riveting documentary with a live performance has the makings of an experience you will remember for the rest of your life.”
Fusing cinematic drama with reality by weaving a fictitious 24-hour journey through the life of musician and international cultural icon Nick Cave, the film is an intimate portrayal of the artistic process that speaks volumes to music fans, the art community and movie lovers alike. The debut directorial feature film of visual artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, the film is set to an original score by Nick Cave and fellow Bad Seeds band mate Warren Ellis.
