Mute Continues Partnership with ADA

Mute Continues Partnership with ADA. ADA, the independent distribution and services arm of WMG announced a partnership with independent record label Mute.

ADA, the independent distribution and services arm of Warner Music Group (WMG), today announced a partnership with independent record label Mute. Since its launch more than three decades ago, the Mute roster has included artists such as Depeche Mode, Moby, Erasure, Goldfrapp, Can, Yaz and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. ADA will contribute its digital & physical distribution services to releases from the label’s roster of artists in the US & Canada.

Founded in 1978 by Daniel Miller, the London-based Mute has long been a pioneer developing  artists in modern music, a mission that perseveres to this day. Today, the label continues to be a home to M83, Apparat (and collaboration Moderat), Josh T. Pearson, The Knife, José González (and his band Junip), Polly Scattergood, Fever Ray, Big Deal and Maps. Releases are expected this year from Liars, Cold Specks, Yann Tiersen and Beth Jeans Houghton.

Mute’s Daniel Miller says “We’re excited to bring Mute back to ADA, whom we worked with 20 years ago – it’s a great home for the label and our artists. We feel confident this partnership will support Mute’s continuing vision!”

While maintaining a firmly eclectic roster—from the earliest days of The Normal, Fad Gadget, and DAF, through to the techno era with artists such as Plastikman/Richie Hawtin and Speedy J, and to the present day with hybrid electronic artists such as M83 and Goldfrapp —the label has always been a champion of electronic music. Mute also looks after a catalog of seminal electronic artists such as Can and Cabaret Voltaire.

About ADA

In June of 2012, ADA expanded its services to the independent music community by officially joining forces with Independent Label Group (ILG), adding the company’s resources and expertise in radio promotion, publicity, and marketing to ADA’s current offering. Since that time, ADA has signed a range of new deals, including ones with hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as well as labels such as PRMD, Partisan Records, The End Records, Innovative Leisure, New West, Sumerian Records, and Third Man Records.

ADA was created in 1993 to focus on the independent music business, where some of the biggest music acts have built their initial followings. Today, ADA is recognized as the leading distributor of independent record labels, handling labels such as Sub Pop, Matador, Epitaph, Domino, Comedy Central, Merge, Secretly Canadian, Rise, Nettwerk, Beggars Music Group, Side One/Dummy, Dualtone, and Surfdog.
