MOGWAI debuts “Got Gets You Back”
Mogwai are back with new single “God Gets You Back,” along with the track, the band has announced a 2025 World Tour, and is the first new music from the band in over two years. This news follows the announcement and premiere of Mogwai: If The Stars Had A Sound, a documentary about the band, directed by Antony Crook. “God Gets You Back” arrives with a video created and directed by Hand Held Cine Club (Justin and James Lockey). The Scotish band includes Stuart Braithwaite (guitar, vocals), Barry Burns (guitar, piano, synthesizer, vocals), Dominic Aitchison (bass guitar) and Martin Bulloch (drums). “God Gets You Back” is available today via Rock Action and Temporary Residence Ltd.
“God Gets You Back” was produced by Produced by John Congleton, known for his work with St. Vincent, Future Islands, Swans. Barry Burns decided the song “needed some melody or vocals, but I couldn’t come up with the lyrics so I asked my 7-year-old daughter to make some up, and she did and I sang them.”
The 2025 tour includes dates in Asia and North America, as well as a full UK/EU run; for full routing please see below. Tickets for the tour are set to go on sale via a presale at 10 AM BST on September 18th, with a venue presale at 10 AM on September 19th and general sale available at 10 AM on September 20th. Mogwai are proud to be partnering with War Child throughout the tour, where a £1/€1/$1 charitable contribution will be made from every ticket sold.
On the world tour, Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite says, “we are immensely excited about heading out on our first worldwide tour since the pandemic. We’re going to some brilliant places and can’t wait to perform our new songs.”
