Today Mk.gee and Two Star have shared two new songs, “Are You Looking Up” and “You got it.” This latest pair of tracks arrives on the heels of sold-out shows at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg and Toronto’s Great Hall earlier this week, kicking off Mk.gee’s run of North American live dates with bandmates Dijon and Andrew Aged.

Picking up where he left off with the one-two punch return of “Candy” and “How many miles” earlier this Summer, Mk.gee’s two new singles unveil more of the next phase of his career. “You got it,” an atmospheric, subdued track of keys, strings, and Mike’s layered vocals, is the perfect compliment to “Are You Looking Up,” a rollicking, twangy tune that prompts you to sing along.

Mk.gee’s tour began earlier this week with shows in New York and Toronto and will continue at Lincoln Hall in Chicago tomorrow before picking back up at the beginning of November for shows in LA at The Roxy and San Francisco at Rickshaw Stop.

Mk.gee, the creative moniker of New Jersey native Mike Gordon, is stepping into uncharted realms with his new solo material, a body of work that’s been steadily building after he first began to experiment with a new musical direction on 2020’s A Museum of Contradiction. These new songs find Gordon at his most inventive and adventurous, creatively renewed following his crucial contributions as a key member of Dijon’s band on the critically acclaimed 2021 album Absolutely. Since that release, Mk.gee’s been on the road touring with the Dijon band for an extended run of touring, including dates alongside Bon Iver and, most recently, playing with boygenius, Clairo, and Toro y Moi in the Re:SET concert series with dates across North America.
