“Memory Man” by Juke Jaxon

Quote from Juke Jaxon:

“Memory Man” is a personification of how much our lives can be effected/influenced by just a singular person. Being that the lyrics are quite personal, we wanted the video to captivate that in the best way possible. We created a concept and pitched it out to a bunch of directors, and we loved the approach Lukasz came back with. He delivered a great concept with a few twists that allows the viewer to perceive it how they wish. In the video we follow the story of an older character who we learn is an assassin. He takes a young lad under his wing and trains him to be an assassin himself. The older character plants a seed for his future courage.”

The band takes influences from James Blake, Alex Turner and Jamie Woon, Juke Jaxon have been labeled an Indie Soul act. The band sold out their first London show last weekend, great voice and the soulful swagger really comes across live.

Meeting on the London underground in summer of 2014, Jack Moore and Ben Hawthorne discovered a mutual interest for classic British sounds and the 60’s Motown greats. Then, like many others before, took to bedroom songwriting before emerging as Juke Jaxon, now ready to demonstrate their re-imagining of this elusive genre.

Musically the band’s début single ‘Memory Man’ wears its influences clearly on its sleeve, evoking classic elements with an electrifying crunch and soulful swagger. Think Alex Turner a la Last Shadow Puppets with vocal spice from James Blake thrown in and an added touch of Jamie Woon – you’ll see what sort of ballpark we are in here.

‘Memory Man’ has the sound that lashes out whilst masking tears. Melodically aggressive; Lyrically sensitive. The song tries to embrace you with one arm, but punches you, winding you, with the other.
