maybe in another life?

Rippedd

For a slightly modest 30 minutes, maybe in another life? manages to take the listener along many paths. From oppressive and emotional shoegaze to acoustic and calm ambience, these paths always lead to the intimidating but alluring unknown.

maybe in another life? is the first major release from the Kyiv project Rippedd in their 4 years of existence. Before this, the musicians managed to sign to Electricity, collaborate with the South Korean 5th Wave Emo project Asian Glow, and go through many tests before releasing their debut. Behind the words of the vocalist is a war destroyed many dreams and plans and also divided the group in half – two of four members ended up abroad. Along with this, the group wanted to embody a lot of emotions in their debut from the very beginning, which is why the work on the album was painstaking and long.

All these difficulties eventually formed the final picture – in 30 minutes, the album manages to reach different heights and volumes, penetrating different genres – post-punk, dream pop, acoustic pop, even a little emo influence, but always staying true to shoegaze and lo-fi. Due to the short run time, some of the tracks seem to not finish speaking or do not fully reveal their big ideas, breaking off somewhere in the middle. But at the same time, the diversity of the songs do not let you get bored. It’s dreaminess and questions raised will make you think.
