mary in the junkyard shares new single “bear walk” ahead of their US live debut in New York City: supporting Model/Actriz tonight, December 4th, at TV Eye, and headlining Baby’s All Right tomorrow night, December 5th. The UK trio includes Clari Freeman-Taylor (vocals, guitar), Saya Barbaglia (bass, viola), and David Addison (drums). “bear walk” recently released “this is my california.”

“bear walk” takes the band back to their roots, where they initially began as a folk project started by Freeman-Taylor. The track is still imbued with the bands spectral stylings, with Barbaglia’s violin elegantly panning across the track, and Addison providing a skeletal shuffle on drums. It’s another moment of striking originality from the band who have had an impressive rookie run throughout 2024. “‘bear walk’ is the story of someone trying to make their lover stay with them in their feral lifestyle,” the band explains. “It is about the push and pull between wildness and conventionality, and was born from us playing some acoustic gigs over the summer.”

mary in the junkyard is one of the brightest new creative forces in the UK, a young group who blur the lines between leftfield experimentation and moments of melodic storytelling that evoke a vivid sense of place. Having released their Richard Russell-produced debut EP This Old House this past spring via AMF Records, 2024 has proved to be a breakout year for the trio. Additionally, Freeman-Taylor features on the forthcoming Everything is Recorded album and makes an appearance in the new “Losing You” video.
