Maria Somerville’s music draws inspiration from folk forms combined with traditional Irish motifs, indie pop, to create her unique sound, inspired by her roots in the West of Ireland. Her 2019 album All My People channeled the wilderness of the Irish landscape through dense, delicate soundscapes, minimal percussion, and and subtle electronic beats, paired with her unique vocals. Since signing with 4AD, Somerville has released two covers as part of the label’s 40th anniversary Bills & Aches & Blues compilation, in addition to supporting label-mates Dry Cleaning on their EU tour. “Projections” is Maria’s first release on 4AD, and more music is expected in 2025. The artist has also announced two one-off live shows. Her first headline dates since 2019, she’ll play Dublin (Workmans, November 19) and London (Chats Palace, November 27) in November.
