Marella Streams New EP ‘Wide Guy’
Singer/songwriter and instrumentalist Marella is sharing his new EP, Wide Guy, the album is a blend of Indie rock and jazz, dealing with themes of coming-of-age, cultural identity, and overall post-college life. The album will be available via streaming services on August 16th.
The EP’s lead single, “I Think She’s In Love With Me,” delves into the excitement and fear of being in love, capturing the overwhelming thoughts behind romantic bewilderment with a surf-inspired style.
Wide Guy is described by the artist as a journey through the complexities of modern life and love. Says Marella “Wide Guy is a projection of my insecurities—from relationships to being multiracial and trying to find my place in Los Angeles,” Marella opens up. “I think Wide Guy is a testament to where I am right now in my life. Coming from an athletic background, it’s really easy to keep my guard up and hide parts of myself from the world. Wide Guy is my way of expressing myself and letting my walls down.”
Daniel Marella grew up in the Bay Area. As a former Division 1 swimmer and music major at UC Santa Barbara, Marella’s multifaceted background shapes his unique artistry. Now based in Los Angeles he continues to refine his craft as both a drummer and a songwriter, creating music that speaks to the heart and soul in true DIY fashion alongside his friends.
