Majical Cloudz unveiled a  new video for their standout track “Bugs Don’t Buzz” this morning, the result of a collaboration between Devon Welsh (of Majical Cloudz) and fashion focused director Gordon Von Steiner. Premiering today with participation from Tumblr, where the band slowly revealed imagery leading up to it’s release, the video’s unique concept was initially conceived by Welsh, who aspired to create something “abstract and not narrative-based.” Welsh approached Von Steiner with his ideas, and the prestigious director translated them into a work of art.The strange, slimy scenes, “set to what is an undeniably gorgeous, if plaintive love song, the imagery from director Gordon von Steiner is utterly transfixing.” Welsh articulated that “the rest of the imagery followed from the original concept of trying to remove humanity from the video’s frame of reference”, creating what he hopes “paints a picture that is abstract but clear in its emotional intentions.”

The duo, who were just nominated for a Polaris Prize last week for their Matador debut, Impersonator, are wrapping up a short run of dates supporting Grizzly Bear. They will be back on the road this July, starting with a MoMA PS1 Warm-Up show in New York, and followed by a full North American headlining tour later this summer.
