Low Hum shares his new single “Dead Weight.” The track is is the fourth single from Low Hum AKA: Collin Desha’s forthcoming album Terra Incognita, available May 24th via Last Gang Records. The release of “Dead Weight” comes with a visualizer created by Dylan Dovaston. Shot with a variety of analog video gear both old and new, the video is a amalgamation of feedback loops, video synthesis, and hypercolor glitches.

Desha was robbed while touring and lost all the creative work that he had done for the album that would eventually become Terra Incognita. Devastated by the loss of his music and uncertain about his ability to start again from scratch, Desha wrote “Dead Weight” as a way to process his feelings of fear, grief, and confusion. Desha’s voice is steady as he delivers a stellar vocal performance, singing, “I’m staring down the barrel and it’s all or nothing,” in his signature, keening wail.

“”Dead Weight” is a song that speaks to perseverance. To keep pushing through when things feel difficult and keeping your eye on the ball. This song has a direct correlation to experiencing the loss of my creative work for this album when we were robbed on tour and feeling like I didn’t know where or how to start from scratch again.”
