LAETITIA SADIER ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR;

SILENCIO, OUT JULY 24 ON DRAG CITY

Laetitia Sadier will be releasing Silencio, her sophomore solo album following her time with Stereolab and Monade, on July 24th on Drag City. Come September, she’ll return to the U.S. (where she recorded much of the new album) for a month-long tour taking her all over North America. After playing a select run of solo dates with Beirut last year, this will be Laetitia’s first extensive tour of the U.S.accompanied by a band since 2008.

After sharing album track “Find Me The Pulse of the Universe” a couple of weeks ago, Laetitia shows another side of Silencio and “There Is A Price To Pay For Freedom (And It Isn’t Security),” a song contributed by James Elkington and recorded with him in Chicago. It’s a romantic, warm number, managing to further communicate the urgency of the album’s themes: empowerment, self-examination and a resistance to the rules of the game as they are laid out by unsympathetic upper classes. Born from a similar, natural need for stillness in the face of the world’s noise as Laetitia’s solo debut, The Trip, Silencio explores the individual connections to a deeper self, discovering a broader sonic environment in the process.
