“Kit Kat Club” by The Mary Wallopers

The Mary Wallopers have released “Kit Kat Club,” the song is described as “rockabilly music built in Ireland specifically for the 21st century gig goer – and proceeds to tell the tale of a drinking mission that sent them down to Hell. That domain is a place full of demons drinking pints of stout, and somewhere the writer can proudly declare their own status as a socialist. “Kit Kat Club” comes with a video directed by Cath Shayler who, the band now, “made everything entirely by hand and animated it in stop motion – no AI used in the making of the music or the video.” The track is the latest single from their forthcoming third album Paddywhackery, recorded over an intense two-week session in Liverpool with Skelly and engineer Chris Taylor and due for release on September 18 via BC Records.

The Mary Wallopers – Charles Hendy, Andrew Hendy, Ken Mooney, Róisín Barrett, Finnian O Connor and Catriona Gribben – have also announced their 2027 North American headline tour. The tour kicks off March 4th in Philadelphia and includes two nights at New York’s Irving Plaza before wrapping in Los Angeles on April 2. Tickets for all North American Wallopers shows are available next Friday, August 14th.

Of the album, Andrew and Charles Hendy note, “It’s mainly about the fact that people would call us “paddywhackery” because we are too Irish or whatever, but it’s all very fucking hip to be Irish the last couple of years, and maybe that’s performative too, it’s very sincere. If all you do is serious songs, it sterilises everything. It becomes like there’s only one human emotion and its seriousness. People are terrified of being laughed at. If people are going to call us paddywhackery anyway, we might as well just call the album Paddywhackery. So its more of a “fuck you” than anything else. We want to spread like a virus and destroy anyone who thinks they are above The Mary Wallopers”
