Joyful Noise Announces “White Label Series”
Indie label Joyful Noise Recordings has announced their 2018 White Label Series, featuring undiscovered bands hand-picked by influential artists-curators such as tUnE-yArDs, Alex Somers (Sigur Ros), Aesop Rock, Meredith Graves (Perfect Pussy), Satomi Matsuzaki (Deerhoof), Mike Watt, and others.
A statement from the label:
“In our content-saturated world, it is very easy for meaningful music to be overlooked. And as a result, countless amazing albums are never properly released and doomed to exist only in the remote regions of the internet. To combat this trend, we have asked twelve influential artists to curate our 2018 White Label Series and help shine a spotlight on their favorite undiscovered or under-appreciated bands.
This is the best music you’ve never heard of… Each month features a new full length album, hand-picked by one of our artist-curators. ‘White Label’ releases are limited to 500 hand-numbered copies (pressed on black vinyl, with plain white labels), packaged in our series letterpress-printed jackets, with an insert including a statement from the month’s curator, and some minimal artwork from the band. All albums include a digital download in WAV and MP3.”
Joyful Noise’s list of artist-curators for 2018 have all been quite busy in 2017 with their own endeavours. Just in the last week tUnE-yArDs released their single “ABC 123” from their forthcoming record while Aesop Rock scored the film Bushwick earlier this year. Here’s hoping for music fans that they had some time to find some truly unique music that the rest of us haven’t landed upon. Definitely something to look forward to for music fans looking to find some artist-approved music off the beaten path, while adding to their vinyl collection.
Subscriptions to the series are available through Joyful Noise’s website.
