Fuck Buttons Premiere “The Red Wing”
Following the announcement of their third album ‘Slow Focus’ coming July 23 on ATP Recordings, and the online launch of “The Red Wing” (an edited version of the album track Fuck Buttons now reveal the intense video for the single. “The Red Wing” has a sense of fear and of loneliness, as if deserted in an abandoned city,” says Benjamin John Power. “The feeling of malevolence is something we hadn’t really explored in our music prior to this.”
The video was filmed, edited and directed by the bands own Andrew Hung. The full version of “The Red Wing” will also be available on a gold vinyl 12″ (limited to 1000 worldwide, art below) to be released on June 25 feat. non-album b-side “The Whip”.
‘Slow Focus’ once again abides by Power and Andrew Hung’s fundamental rule that, “we must always be in the same room when writing.” The first record that they’ve fully produced themselves, it’s an ominously shimmering mirage that could only have borne their moniker. “Slow Focus seemed like a very apt title when considering the sentiment of the music,” comments Power, “It almost feels like the moment your eyes take to readjust when waking, and realising you’re in a very unusual and not a particularly welcoming place. We like to think that we create our own new landscapes, and with this it’s a very alien one.”
Having already confirmed a string of festival dates, which kicked off recently at Primavera Festival in Barcelona, the pair have now been unveiled as Saturday night Park Stage headliners at Glastonbury. “We’re looking forward to it hugely,” says Andrew Hung. “I’m hoping that the Glastonbury crowd will be up for a bit of raucous!” If the pair’s viscerally thrilling early shows this year are anything to go by, they’re not going to have any choice but to be.
