Finom, is the Chicago duo, including Macie Stewart and Sima Cunningham. Today, they have released “Dirt (Live),” the second in a series of live recordings on Joyful Noise (following “Hungry (Live)”. While “Hungry (Live)” centered around the duo’s epic dueling guitars, “Dirt (Live)”–captured at the band’s packed hometown release show at the Metro last November. Alongside the release of “Dirt (Live)” comes the announcement of the next leg of the Not God Tour on the west coast preceded by a short run in Europe.

“There’s a starkness to this song that we started leaning into live, much more dramatically than on the record,” writes Finom. “There was just something really grounding about playing ‘Dirt’ early in the set, letting the bass and drums create this deep groove that our voices could soar over. We wanted to really take a minute to depart from any maximalism and just let the words ring out and say what we want to say. Especially in a room like the Metro where everyone is so up close with you but you still feel like you’re in this big, storied place. We feel a swell of power whenever we sing ‘Salt of the earth you were never, if I eat the dirt will it make me clever?’ in three-part harmony.”
