Fear Of Men release video from forthcoming LP
UK’s Fear of Men have shared an Eleanor Hardwick and Sam Boullier directed video for “Trauma,” one of the previous singles from the band’s upcoming album, Fall Forever out June 3rd on Kanine Records.
Daniel Falvey of the band said “for this video we were interested in bringing the album cover to life – exploring the tension in that image and the dichotomy it depicts of intimacy and resistance. Incorporating this image, Eleanor and Sam’s treatment reflects Jess’s lyrics in depicting two dancers grappling with trauma in the form of black liquid that engulfs them.”
Describing the video, one of it’s directors, Eleanor Hardwick explains “we wanted to represent trauma as an oozing black liquid, much like Hippocrates’ four humours. Trauma to me is something like a stain, that is often transferred between beings who pass it on to one another like a disease that cannot be removed. So for the video, we wanted to use choreography to look at two opposing ways one can deal with the trauma that is transferred onto you: by fighting to undo the past, and trying to remove a stain that has already made its mark on you – versus taking that stain and accepting that it will become your future; not denying it, nor being defined by it, but continuing on in despite of it, and using that trauma to your advantage.”
While the band’s Jessica Weiss describes the sense of trauma tackled in the song as “the undefinable anxiety and damage that all of us suffer at some point at the hands of another. It’s how we deal with it that defines us…To me, dealing with trauma is not about looking back, it’s about taking that experience and putting it under your own control, letting it become a part of you.” For her, the song is about “empowerment through taking control.”
The band has also announced a full US tour in the summer and an EU tour in the fall. All dates below.
