EXEK Premiere “Replicate” Video, EP Out Now

EXEK Premiere "Replicate" Video, EP Out Now via Time /\ Space Records

Based in Melbourne, E X E K made their live debut in early 2014. The quietly released a 4 track EP this summer with very little fanfare or fuss on Time /\ Space Records.

As the name may suggest, the four piece present a degree of sophistication, where a merging of discipline with destruction allows for “passive aggressive, paranoid compositions”. Delivered patiently throughout their sets are loud bursts of guitar and synth, whilst a kraut-esque rhythm section provides insistent propulsion, which is indicative of dub production techniques. There’s a strong sense that the songs may break away/break down at any point, yet this reflects the bands vision of clinically composed chaos, echoing an appreciation of PiL and Swell Maps.

The four tracks off the self-titled debut have been created and refined over several years by singer/guitarist Albert Wolski (Slug Guts, Martyr Privates). Now joined by a full band consisting of Sam Dixon (Martyr Privates), Damien Minards, and Henry Wilson, the recording process encompassed all four members in a perpetual state of overdubs and edits, completed entirely in the singer’s living-room in Brunswick.
