Empty Nesters Debut “The Simphony” ft. Madeline Link
Montreal shoegaze band Empty Nesters share their new single “The Simphony,” the track features Madeline Link of PACKS. Eric Liao, the creative mind behind Empty Nesters, wrote about the track:
“I wrote this love song for my girlfriend after having some vocal melodies stuck in my head. Started writing the song with just a guitar and felt that a shoegaze sound would be fitting. After recording one guitar part, I just got lost by adding in more guitar layers that may have been unnecessary. I then asked my band member Matthew Galamaga to provide drums for this track. After recording the song, I felt that it was missing female vocals and thought it would sound nice as a lovey dovey duet so I messaged my friend Madeline, Who leads her band PACKS and was more than happy to sing along to the track. I really like how this song turned out and reminds me a lot of My Bloody Valentine. At our shows we intentionally throw people off (but they like it!) by playing hardcore punk in the remaining half of our set. The punk sounding ending is also kind of supposed to throw off the listener in a way.”
