Los Angeles singer/songwriter, Ed Vallance has released new single “Seventeen,” the track is off his forthcoming album SWIM, arriving November 14 via Declared Goods (Nicolai Dunger). SWIM was inspired the music of Bonnie Prince Billy Mazzy Star, John Martyn and Bill Callahan, along with the early acoustic demos of Syd Barrett and PJ Harvey.

SWIM was produced with longtime friend and collaborator, John Schreffler, at John’s home studio near Santa Clarita, California.“John helped me get back to
the voice, to the bare bones of the songs. When I was seventeen, I tried to capture that London autumnal feeling. That weird rush of adrenaline you get from demoing songs. That was the reason I started to write in the first place.

“Seventeen” starts off with a flying dream I had in my teens: “Hovering high overland; shifting tide, shifting sand. I dreamt that a good friend and I were soaring side by side over a beach in Mexico. That image and that giddy feeling of freedom stuck with me. It’s a mix of joy and vertigo that seems to sum up the teenage years. Terror and optimism in pretty much equal measure.”
