Disclosure Releases “She’s Gone, Dance On” Band Version
Disclosure have shared “She’s Gone, Dance On” a mood-shifting cool down in the form of “She’s Gone, Dance On (Live From The Mews).” The spiritual version was recorded live in London studio The Mews with Guy and Howard Lawrence holding down the rhythm section supported by an incredible band that includes — among other talented musicians — their dad Robin Lawrence on electric guitar. The official video was filmed in a single-take session. “She’s Gone, Dance On” was recently received a, hyper-color remix from Hamdi. That followed the July release of a music video directed by Vincent Catel featuring the French dance collective La Horde (Spike Jonze), plus remixes from Turkish DJ Carlita and Todd Edwards.
With Guy on drums and Howard on bass, the siblings quickly establish a deep groove that’s enriched and embellished by pianist and solo artist Reuben James (Sam Smith, Stormzy, Herbie Hancock) with help from acoustic guitarist Robin Katz and the elder Lawrence, of course, who blesses the cut with a restrained solo. But the centerpiece is the vocal trio who take on the original song’s Ennio Morricone sample: Eliza Oakes (Elbow, Gregory Porter, Idrîsî Ensemble), MRCY vocalist Kojo, and Nigerian-Irish singer Laura Ehio.
The duo are gearing up for more festival stops ahead — CRSSD in San Diego, Portola in San Francisco, III Points in Miami — while Guy will continue to delight fans with his more intimate Friends & Family club series. Most recently, he warmed up Los Angeles with a four-hour set going B2B with Chris Lake, Bonobo, and Channel Tres.
