Die Antwoord are set to release their third full-length studio album “DONKER MAG” on June 2nd. The album will be released via their own label Zef Records. In addition to the announcement regarding the upcoming album, Die Antwoord also released the video for “Pitbull Terrier.”

Formed in 2008 in Cape Town, South Africa, Die Antwoord is a rap-rave duo consisting of NINJA and ¥O-LANDI VI$$ER. In five years, they have released two full-length albums, $O$ in 2009 and Ten$ion in 2012. Although initially they signed on to Interscope records, Die Antwoord broke away from that record deal to form their own record label, under which they released their second album. The name ‘Zef’ comes from a term which means “common” and refers to the lower-middle class counterculture of South Africa. Speaking of the name ¥O-LANDI VI$$ER explained, “you’re poor but you’re fancy. You’re poor but you’re sexy, you’ve got style.”

Along with the announcement of their upcoming release, Die Antwoord also released the video for “Pitbull Terrier” today. The video, which can be watched here, was directed by NINJA and executive produced by NINJA and ¥O-LANDI. This is their first release in almost a year, after the release of DONKER MAG album track “Cookie Thumper!” Continuing their quest to spread Zef culture through their renowned video projects, Die Antwoord released the video for “Pitbull Terrier” today. Along with the release of the album, Die Antwoord are also preparing for their extensive tour of North America, which is set to kick off on May 22nd. Not only this but they are also scheduled to perform at the Reading and Leeds festival on August 23rd and 24rd respectively.
