Clothing announce Beauty Filter EP
Clothing, is the duo of Aakaash Israni (Dawn of Midi) and Ben Sterling (Cookies, Mobius Band), released their debut album, From Memory, featuring guest vocalists L’Rain, Amber Coffman, Elliot Skinner and Anna Wise. Now, Clothing release a video for From Memory’s “Afternoon Television (feat. Amber Coffman),” and announce the Beauty Filter EP which finds half of the album reinterpreted by like-minded artists. Water From Your Eyes contributes “Everything Is Free,” juicing the tempo and stretching Coffman’s voice to its limits. Elsewhere, Porches repurpose the dreamy “Still Point,” creates a haunting spin on the unforgettable track.
The “Afternoon Television” video is directed by Emily Keegin, featuring footage by celebrated photographer Sinna Nasseri. In addition to his photography, Nasseri shoots reams of vertical, iPhone video on his peripatetic travel around the country, spontaneously documenting our dizzying, worrying, and undeniably weird country, a place where “Everyone’s the same / Born without a name / And raised by afternoon TV.”
Clothing is the result of the long-gestating friendship and musical collaboration between Israni and Sterling. Sterling is a born and bred New Yorker who came of age marinating in pop music, while Israni is an Indian-born, SoCal surfer who studied classical composition in France and free improvisation at CalArts.
