Cigarettes After Sex have returned with new double single “Anna Karenina” via Partisan Records (Geese). The band’s two tracks are their first release since their 2024 LP X’s. Its spoken word verses adds a new dimension to Greg Gonzalez’s palette. The chorus (“I cried at the end of Anna Karenina, when she threw herself under the train”) might be the most Cigarettes After Sex lyric written to-date. The A-side is a cover of The Doors’ “The Crystal Ship.” Cigarettes After Sex are Greg Gonzalez (guitar/vocals), Jacob Tomsky (drums), and Randall Miller (bass).

On October 30th, the band’s own Greg Gonzalez will sit in with The Doors at LA’s Greek Theatre as a part of the band’s 60th anniversary celebration.

Recently, Cigarettes After Sex’s “Apocalypse” became one of just under 200 songs in history to surpass 2 billion streams on Spotify. “Cry,” “Sunsetz,” and “K.,” – also each surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify all within a stretch of just five days. They are now also one of only 11 bands in history (joining the likes of Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Queen) to have four or more songs with over one billion streams.
