Brijean, the project of multi-artist Brijean Murphy, and member of live bands for Mitski, Poolside, and Toro y Moi,  along with multi-instrumentalist/producer Doug Stuart, have dropped their new their new album, Macro, out today on Ghostly International,  along with the the LP, the duo have shared a new video by Noah Porter for “Counting Sheep,”

“Counting Sheep” is one of our favorite songs on this album,” Brijean explains. “It was the first song we wrote that felt like it was part of the Macro world, and we wrote the initial version with only guitar and voice which was a new process for us. When we were nearly done with the record, we thought that ‘Counting Sheep’ might not be on the final tracklist, but we remixed it on a whim one late night and arrived at the version that exists on Macro. It was powerful to feel the song transform so dramatically while also keeping the thumbprint of what we loved about it.”

Porter adds, “I listened to the song on repeat on a drive from LA back to Portland, where I live, and tried to come up with a concept. It was a good way to pass the time on I-5 North. The song had a really hypnotic quality and I wanted to play off that and the sleep themes in the lyrics. Brijean’s number one thing for the video was she wanted it to be playful, surreal and fun. A few weeks later I was back in LA shooting this video family-style with some frequent collaborators and friends from Portland who flew down to help me. It’s a very home-grown and hand-made video, and I think it came out great.”
