Freak Heat Waves and New Orthodox have released their new collaborative single and video “Bottomed Out” on Joyful Noise Recordings. It’s the debut track from New Orthodox, a new project led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Merz (Sunset Rubdown, Darto). It’s also New Orthodox’s first collaboration with Freak Heat Waves resulting from a nearly two decades-long friendship. Both artists collaborated from afar, convening in New York City to shoot the video.

New Orthodox includes Nicholas Merz, collaborators include Freak Heat Waves, Thor Harris , and Spencer Krug, to bring the New Orthodox to life.

Freak Heat Waves was founded in 2009 by Steve Lind and Thomas Di Ninno in Medicine Hat, AB. Now split between Montreal, QC and Victoria, BC the duo has released five LPs, their latest, Mondo Tempo, under Vancouver’s Mood Hut label.
