Low Roar have shared a new video for single “Bones” taken from ‘Once in a Long Long While’, available now worldwide.

A duet with much-feted Icelandic singer Ákadóttir, inspired by the sad back-and-forth of Karazija’s final text conversation with his ex-girlfriend. The dance of the damned, cloaked in romantic fatalism and tense with unresolved desire. In part a tribute to Karazija’s Mexican mother, high-speed camerawork captures the wire-assisted choreography of Mexican dancers in ultra slow motion, adrift in an abstract space where the lovers strain for metaphysical connection for all eternity.

The short film features a woman (Dalia Xiohcoatl) and a man (Miguél Pérez) dancing in a non-place governed not by the laws of time or physics but the laws of memory, where it is never certain if either character is actually there or if one or the other a broken projection from a distant past. ‘Bones’ was written and partly recorded while Ryan spent a month in Mexico City, so it was only right that the video was shot there, using a Mexican cast and a local production team. The Mexican revolution-era inspired aesthetics add colour and texture to mesmerising shots filmed using high speed technology, complementing perfectly a song about love, loss, distance and acceptance.
