“Body Heat” By Gabi Goldman
Swedish pop-R&B artist Gabi Goldman has dropped her debut single “Body Heat.” Produced by Jonah Christian (Anderson.Paak, Mahalia) and mixed by Grammy-nominated Koen Heldens. The intimate song is about prioritising self-love. It hears Gabi’s honeyed vocals unfurl over the atmospheric track, singing: “I don’t want to give my love to anyone but myself. I don’t want to share nothing but a little bit of body heat.”
““Body Heat” is your best friend in times of self doubt, like a good therapist. You start off by wanting to solve relationship problems but then realise that the love must come from within. This song is your daily reminder to never judge yourself for prioritising you. It makes you feel okay about only wanting to give love to no one but yourself.”
From an early age Gabi’s parents were acutely aware that she was destined to become a performer. Curious about the world around her and how she moved within it, she was embracing as many forms of self expression as she could: singing, dancing, modelling, hosting and acting. “As a child, I trie
d out for a talent show where kids were the judges, and adults were performing. I ended up getting the role as host. I’ve always been very interested in things, I asked a lot of questions in the audition and they liked that”.
A constant stream of melodies flowed through Gabi’s family home throughout her childhood, from Mary J. Blige to The Fugees, Lauryn Hill to Amy Winehouse, alongside the mainstays of soul, blues and R&B music. Citing SZA, Rihanna, Miguel, Jorja Smith, Mahalia and Yebba amongst her favou rite influences, it’s clear that Gabi is entranced by a sexy, caramel vocal, but it’s Amy Winehouse who always comes out on top for Gabi. “She’s my main person, no one touches me like her. She is such a storyteller. It’s really rare”, she said. And it’s Winehouse’s songwriting that Gabi is always reaching for in her own art.
