Black Lips live set from mideast tour to air
Atlanta’s flower punk forefathers Black Lips recently returned from a tour to the Middle East on a mission to prove their hypothesis that people everywhere can dance to the same backbeat. Eager to share their experiences and demonstrate that the chasm between our cultures is, indeed, bridgeable the band are presenting a number of multimedia artifacts from their journey via a variety of outlets.
The cornerstone of the trip was a show in Cairo, at the height of news reports about anti-American protests, in honor of International Peace Day (the show ended up being the subject of an NPR All Things Considered piece). SiriusXM‘s SiriusXMU, channel 35, recorded the band’s performance and will present a special broadcast on Wednesday, December 19 at 9p ET. After the broadcast, the performance will be available on SiriusXM On Demand for subscribers listening via the SiriusXM Internet Radio App for smartphones and other mobile devices or online at siriusxm.com. Visit www.siriusxm.com/ondemand for more information on SiriusXM On Demand.
There is also extensive video documentation of the tour in the works, including a feature length documentary from filmmaker Bill Cody. Info on the film and a trailer can be viewed at the link below. VICE‘s music channel Noisey also has a video special in the works that will be made available in the coming weeks.
