Backwoodz Studioz have teamed up with Rhymesayers Entertainment. By joining forces with Rhymesayers, Backwoodz looks to bring their catalog to retailers worldwide for the first time, furthering their innovative artist roster, which includes releases from Armand Hammer, billy woods, Kenny Segal, Blockhead, ELUCID, Cavalier, ShrapKnel, Moor Mother, AKAI SOLO, Fatboi Sharif, Fielded and more.

On the partnership, billy woods shares “Since I started Backwoodz Studioz more than twenty years ago, the goal has been to be forward thinking in terms of both the art that we curate, and our business endeavors. I still believe that whatever benefits our artists, will ultimately benefit the label as well. To that end, we have done our best not to stand pat, always looking for partnerships that can help us do more for our artists. For much of the last ten years, our physical distribution network has been an a la carte affair, working with a variety of different entities on a case-by-case basis. It has been an effective approach for Backwoodz; as the label is putting out more product than ever before, while maintaining quality control and breaking new acts that wouldn’t have found a home anywhere else. But with that growth has come new opportunities, and when the potential to work with Rhymesayers Entertainment came up, it really checked all the boxes we were looking for. To celebrate the partnership, Rhymesayers Entertainment and Backwoodz Studioz are announcing a reissue of billy woods and Kenny Segal’s 2019 album Hiding Places, due out September 27th.

When Hiding Places happened it changed the trajectories of both artists, and Backwoodz Studioz. The original 2019 vinyl pressing was limited to 500 copies alongside a numbered run of 100 special-editions with alternative artwork by M. Musgrove. 2020 saw a new pressing that included the album instrumentals; this version had all-new artwork and was limited to just 1000 copies. This five-year anniversary reissue brings back the iconic house cover, and also includes a gatefold with new original artwork from M. Musgrove.
