“Between These Ears” By Moreish Idols

Moreish Idols arrived fully-formed last year with the absurdist smarts of “Speedboat” and the contorted thrill of “Hangar”, two highlights from a debut EP for Speedy Wunderground, Float, that generated international support from many blogs and gain new fans.

Earlier this year they returned with the acclaimed “Nocturnal Creatures”, a woozy slice of arch indie-pop that demonstrated an already tight songwriting team growing only stronger. Today they share the second single from fruitful new sessions with producer Dan Carey (Fontaines DC, Foals, Wet Leg) in the form of “Between These Ears” playing on the more esoteric persona of the band, with a playful, near spoken-word vocal, prominent clarinet and a loose feel that fits the explorative nature of their output so far.

Never ones to be pinned down, the band say on the themes of their new single, “Between These Ears”: “Between These Ears is a silhouette of someone not quite at home anywhere, wading in the mud, somewhere in-between making and missing the point.”
