Men Seni Suyemin releases BELIEVE, her debut LP, is now out now digitally via 2MR, (Lauren Flax, Kedr Livanskiy, etc). Men Seni Suyemin (Pronunciation: MEN SINNY SOO-YEH-MEN) is the nom de plume of Minona Volandova — a classically trained guitarist and producer from Kazakhstan, who makes evocative electronic music with guitar as a main component.

The release of her debut full-length comes with a video directed by Kristina Snegina, who shares: “Our story is a bizarre maze of dreams of the main character, who overcomes nightmares by switching them to beautiful images and gently comes to wake up. The narrative of the story is filled with symbols and moves according to the combined logic of a dream and a fairy tale.”

Minona Volandova shares: “I am glad to present to listeners my new album called BELIEVE. I wrote it over the course of six months and selected 10 tracks that most reflect my feeling of the world at this period of my life. This is the second release on the 2MR label, which I called BELIEVE and the name of the album determines my attitude to everything, to the world, to myself, to my listeners, to the events that happen. Despite various depressing news from the outside, as a creative person, I want to believe that the power of music can overcome violence and darkness in people’s heads. That in the most difficult moments and lives, music will share their pain and make it much easier. The main distinguishing feature of the album is that it contains more songs with lyrics than previous releases. Poetry and voice are an experiment for me and a desire to explore new facets of musical creativity. The lyrics contain love lyrics – a dedication of thoughts to my ideals, to people who inspired me to the best feelings, but also allowed me to experience the other side of love – anxiety and fear. There are also certain songs with a positive message. In song arrangements, the guitar part is always important to me; when recording the album, I used different pedals, experimented with the effects of the ZOIA modular synthesizer, and for the first time tried to introduce melodica parts into the arrangement. The main concept of the album is light guitar music intertwined with mysterious national motifs, melancholy through which faith in the best emerges. Guitar music that reflects many different moods.”
