Bear Hands Reveal Track + Video For “Agora”
Bear Hands have released the video for their brand-new track “Agora” off their sophomore album Distraction, out in the US and Canada on February 18, 2014 via Cantora Records. Featuring a bearded dragon, a Queen homage and a fittingly agoraphobic frontman, the clip was directed by Bear Hands guitarist Ted Feldman.
Speaking on the varied influences for the clip, Feldman said “I tried to bite the right filmmakers in showing Dylan [Rau, vocals and guitar] experiencing the drudgery of a solitary existence. I had wanted to include an iguana as tribute to Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant, but during our search we found a sweet bearded dragon named Smaug who ended up in the video instead.” You can watch above. The track is streaming on SoundCloud HERE.
This winter, Bear Hands is joining forces with fellow Brooklynites Miniature Tigers for a co-headlining tour, with support from Total Slacker. The jaunt begins on February 27th at Rough Trade in Brooklyn and wraps up on March 20th at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor. Additionally, the band will play South By Southwest, Coachella and Big Guava Music Fest in support of Distraction, with additional festival and tour dates to be announced soon.
Distraction was produced by guitarist Ted Feldman and mixed by James Brown (Nine Inch Nails, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters), Distraction is a violently self-assured record which sees the quartet of Dylan Rau, TJ Orscher, Val Loper and Feldman distilling their anxieties and pleasures alike into twisted pop nuggets – calling out for love from behind a mask of ones and zeroes, cardboard and vinyl.
