“Be Mine” by Bat and Ball
UK indie band Bat and Ball are back with their fourth release “Be Mine”. With their debut EP We Prefer It In The Dark, drawing much attention from the UK press.
‘Be Mine’ is a similarly provocative and satirical antidote to the conventional love song. Alongside its insistent ticking clock and driving guitars, it’s Abi Sinclair’s unique voice and lyrics that dominate, spitting out a gendered language of brutality and appetite before serving up a chorus of rich and delicious melody to deeply unsettling effect. ‘Be Mine’ is about how the language we use shapes our understanding of relationships; it is an uncompromising song about sex and power, and our need to possess what we desire.
The band met whilst studying music at Goldsmiths College in London: siblings Chris and Abi Sinclair met Harri Chambers and have developed their unique artistic voice and vision from this base. Bat and Ball represents an uncompromising and fiercely independent approach to creativity – there is a commitment to the tenets of pop music but a refusal to over-simplify or fall into cliché.
Bat and Ball will release “Be Mine” (the second of three singles from their debut album) is now out via Hush Tongue Records and State 51 Conspiracy.
