rapper/producer Frank Leone and Stones Throw filmmaker/experimental producer Teardrop Estates are announcing a collaborative album. SUNDROP, due March 5th, finds the two artists reunited and returning to the collaborative work that they first teased in 2017 with “Scary Gary” featuring cult icon Gary Wilson. The LP is a tale of burning passion, with songs about ego and lust, built on genre-bending production intended to recall one’s clunky sexual awakening. Today, the pair are sharing “BAD THINGS,” a first taste of the new album.

SUNDROP is Frank Leone’s first release of 2021 and comes after an industrious year for the hip hop artist. Leone released his debut album DON’T in September 2020. Entirely written, produced, and performed by Leone himself, the album includes previously-released singles “DON’T NEED” and “DON’T WANT.” SUNDROP also arrives ahead of Leone’s secret visual project involving acclaimed actor Lakeith Stanfield, director Hiro Murai and FX that will complement his forthcoming musical releases. More details about this project will be revealed at a later date. Frank Leone has also helped establish his reputation as a producer by releasing several songs with Hanni El Khatib in addition to working with Open Mike Eagle (“I’m a Joestar (Black Power Fantasy)),” Deem Spencer (Pretty Face), and Monster Mike (“First Off”).
