“Arm’s Length” by Pool Kids
On Pool Kids’ brand new self-titled album vocalist Christine Goodwyne unpacks the post-adolescent stumble into adulthood and all the universal pains that come with it. On their new song out today “Arm’s Length,” we’re talking self-imposed isolation and sad birthdays. It’s the sonic equal to that kind of depressive period where you neglect friendships and then people stop hitting you up––the result of your actions smacking you straight in the face, a certain type of loneliness that you almost deserve.
Pool Kids was recorded in Seattle by producer Mike Vernon Davis, Pool Kids is crisp and polished, blending synth layers with post-hardcore guitar riffs, and indie-pop textures with hot-tempered vocals. It’s their first studio album with bassist Nicolette Alvarez (she/her) and guitarist Andy Anaya (he/him), joining founding members vocalist/guitarist Christine Goodwyne (she/her) and drummer Caden Clinton (he/him).
